PE 80 – PE 100 Type of raw material which is used for pipes. PE 100 density is higher than PE 80 and can withstand higher pressure (PN).

PE80 is available as PE-HD and PE-MD. PE-MD pipes have the same dimensions and pressure classes as PE-HD pipe. PE-MD pipes are flexible and can be delivered on roll.

PN . The number following the EN, the internal pressure in bar, the tube can withstand the sustained load at 20 ° C for a minimum 50 year.
SDR or DR the ratio of the tube diameter and the wall thickness of the tube. It is calculated by dividing the outer diameter of the tube to the specified minimum thickness of the wall. Pipe in the same SDR or DR group can be used for the same pressure. For example, a Ø63 mm. SDR 11 PE 100 tubes are used for the same pressure as a Ø315 mm. SDR 11 PE 100 tube. Higher SDR value = smaller tube wall thickness, and thus the tube can withstand lower pressure.

You will find the material thickness by dividing the outside diameter with the SDR value.

Example: Ø63 SDR17 PE100 pipes: 63(ext. diameter in mm.) = 3,705 mm (minimum wall thickness)
17 (SDR value)
Ratio of SDR value and PN pressure in PE pipes. (Always use pipe suppliers information)

Welding: PE 80 and PE 100 with the same diameter and wall thickness can be butt-welded. PE 80 and PE 100 of the same diameter (regardless of material thickness) can be welded with electric sockets.
